A man lives on the tenth floor of a building. Every day he takes the elevator to go down to the ground floor to go to work or go shopping. When he returns, he takes the elevator to the seventh floor and walks the stairs to reach his apartment on the tenth floor. He hates walking so why does he do it?

The elevator may not operate up to the tenth floor. The riddle does not state that the man takes the elevator from the tenth floor in the morning. He can walk to seventh floor to take the elevator.
The first thing that came to my mind was that the man was really environmentally friendly and wanted to save electricity or maybe he wanted to do a small amount of exercise each day. However, after thinking it through again I thought my ideas were just hilarious. I then asked myself would it be because he CANNOT get to the top floor directly from the ground floor? I finally concluded that the height of the man is too short to reach the elevator button for the 10th floor and can only reach to the 7th floor, THAT is why he has to do this every day to get back home.
Perhaps there were two elevators in the building. In the morning, only one elevator operates in the morning to the tenth floor, and for a certain time. Coincidentaly, the man's shopping and work schedule when he leaves the building allows him to take the first elevator. When he returns however, he is forced to take the second elevator which only goes to the seventh floor, because the first one has closed.
The text doesnt actually tell us that the man gets on the lift at the tenth floor and exits on the ground floor when he goes down. Therefore i think the lift only reaches the 7th floor.
I think there are many possibilities to this. At first, I also thought that the man was too short to reach the button for 10th floor however, after considering this, the buttons for each floor could be in a different layout. Once people thought of 10th floor, it seems like it should be placed near the top of the panel. But nowadays in modern worlds in tall buildings, there are many floors and they continuously go on for a few columns therefore, 10th floor button could result in being near the bottom of the panel therefore the height of the man is no excuse to stop at 7th floor.
Another point of view of mine is that maybe, the man's crush lives on the 7th floor and everyday when he comes home, he stops by the 7th floor to give her a flower in order to show his love and make her fall in love with him. Then, like most residential buildings, the elevators cannot go up (besides ground floor) therefore resulting in him walking up the 3 levels to get to his house.
I think its because he was not able to reach the 10th floor button cause he was short.
